ABOUT Mary-Lu Zahalan
Professor Mary-Lu Zahalan is the author of Cultural Capital: The Beatles in Canada, the story of how Canada actually 'broke' the Beatles in North America a year before they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in America.
In 2011, she received her MA (with Distinction) in The Beatles: Popular Music and Society from Liverpool Hope University – the first masters level program in the world to concentrate on the Beatles.
Mary-Lu is a professor at Sheridan College outside Toronto where she created and heads the Commercial Vocal Department in the Music Theatre program.
She lives outside Toronto with her husband, Chris, near her two daughters, and enjoys traveling, theater and family.
